SCC physical therapist assistant program holds pinning ceremony

SYLVA – Twelve graduates of Southwestern Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant program were honored during a May 15 pinning ceremony at the Jackson Campus.

Graduates from the program include: Ashley Hooper (Waynesville), Leilani Cantrell (Sylva), Heather Mull (Canton), Jared Sanders (Black Mountain), Ashley Anderson (Franklin). Back row, from left: Cassie White (Asheville), Annabell Plush (Cashiers), Jennifer Jacobson (Clyde), Grace Mimken (Weaverville), Dylan Suttle (Sylva), James Eaker (Raleigh) and Meredith Hopkins (Bethel).

All graduates are eligible to take the licensure examination administered by the N.C. Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Upon completion of the licensure examination, graduates will then be certified Physical Therapist Assistants, and will be eligible to work in specialty hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, schools, home health programs, and other places where people may need help restoring function by alleviation, or prevention of further physical impairments. However, some of the graduates may plan to continue their education by attending a university in order to become a licensed Physical Therapist.
