Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?
A)
My prime motivation is to prove to myself that I can do this regardless of the circumstances that I am faced with. After being a single mother to my grown son, the loss of my husband last year (that I cared for during his battle with cancer) and then the loss of my job immediately following, the dream to become a nurse and help others is becoming a reality. Starting college at my age and being a first time student is challenging on it's own, but during my first semester, my mother also became ill and my attention was necessary in Florida. Thanks to the wonderful and caring advisors and teachers at SCC, and my own desire to continue on, I will graduate this semester with my Nursing Assistant Certificate and will be applying for the Nursing Program.

Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?
A)
Don't give up! There may be challenges that you face, but if you have started this journey, it is worth finishing. Regardless of your motivation or goal, keep it in sight, take a deep breath and keep on moving forward!
