Q) What motivates you to continue and excel at SCC in spite of circumstances you may face?

A) I started at SCC back in the fall of 2013, but after my father’s untimely death, I felt as if I had to get a good job and help my mother with the house and other bills. My father never showed fear in what the next day gave him. He buckled down and did it. I thought I was doing the right thing by helping my mom out. Soon I realized I wasn't happy doing the same thing everyday. It was then when I quit my job and started to pursue a career through school. To better myself and so I can help my mom long term, rather than just the immediate future.

Q) What advice would you give to future students who might face similar situations?

A) My advice to future students of SCC is to keep on keeping on. It doesn't matter if you start college the day after your high school graduation or after you start a family. What matters is why you are doing it. Never lose sight of what matters, because that is the reason why you are pursuing a career. Do it for yourself and your loved ones, because they always want the best for you.Wherever you are going, whatever you are doing stay positive and fight for what you deserve.
