Wilson reappointed to SCC board of trustees

SYLVA Earlier this month, the Jackson County board of education approved the reappointment of Lambert G. Wilson to a second four-year term on the Southwestern Community College board of trustees.  He was recommended for reappointment by the Swain County board of education.

Wilson was sworn in on Tuesday, July 9, by Ann Melton, Jackson County clerk of court.

“We are pleased Mr. Wilson has been reappointed to the SCC board of trustees,” said Dr. Don Tomas, SCC’s president. “His background in education and business are an asset as we continue our mission to provide quality, affordable education and training to the citizens of Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties and the Qualla Boundary.” 

A resident of Whittier, he is owner/operator of the Drama Inn and El Camino Motel in Cherokee.  A former educator, he retired in 2006 as principal of Swain County East Elementary School.  He also served as principal of Whittier Elementary and taught at Almond Elementary.

Wilson is currently a member of the Swain County board of education, Swain County Schools Foundation and the Swain County Performing Arts Center.  He is a Swain County School volunteer and teaches Sunday school at Midway Baptist Church.

A graduate of Swain County High School, Wilson received a Bachelor of Science in Education, Masters in Middle Grade Education and Administration and Education Specialist in Education Administration degree from Western Carolina University.
