Information Technology Quick Reference Guide for Faculty/Staff

Account Information:
Accounts for faculty and staff are created by the Helpdesk after receiving a User Authorization from your supervisors. If you don't have an account please contact your supervisor.
      
Do I need an SCC Email Account:
Yes, it is required for you and your students to use their SCC provided email account for all college-related communications. For security and audit reasons, we ask that you do not use personal email accounts when contacting faculty, staff, and students.

How to Report Problems to the Help Desk:
If you are experiencing technical issues or have a question please call the help desk at 828.339.4409 or 800.447.4091 ext 4409. Also, you can submit a work order at ticket@southwesterncc.edu.
NOTE: Please submit a work order or call the help desk to report all technical problems. If you don't report these problems we don't know there is a problem to resolve.
      
What does my Account Access:
You will be issued an account that will allow you to login to the computers on campus, access network resources, lmySCC, Google Apps, Moodle, and access the wireless network.
      
How do I access the wireless network:
     The college provides free wireless access for students and visitors.
 
How to Check Email through the Web:
To access your email account remotely you can go to mySCC and login with your username and password.
 
How to Access mySCC:
You can access mySCC from our home page at southwesterncc.edu and click on the mySCC links located on the page or you can go directly to mySCC by typing my.southwesterncc.edu.
 
What Can I Access on mySCC:
mySCC is a web portal that provides you with single sign-on access to Self-Service, Moodle, Gmail, and Google Apps all in one place. This site will also give you access to other resources such as announcements, RSS feeds, local weather, a place to store your favorites, and much more. 
      
Do I need an eCampus(Moodle) Account:
You will need an eCampus account if you are teaching an online course or if you want to use eCampus to enhance your course.
      
How do I get an eCampus(Moodle) Account:
Your eCampus account is setup with your main account.  If you have any questions regarding eCampus please contact Chris Akers at 828.339.4399 or send an email to c_akers@southwesterncc.edu.
      
Where Should I save my Documents:
If you are using a computer on campus, we recommend that you save all your files to your private drive (P:) on the network. This P: drive is only accessible by you and is backed up every night. Also, in the event your computer crashes you can access your files from another computer on campus.
      
How to set your voicemail up if you have a phone:
If you have a phone and need to setup your voice mail go here.
