Southwestern Community Job & Resource Events

both events free to public and 1pm-4pm

When we postponed the Fall Job Fair originally scheduled on October 10 in Macon County, it was with a commitment to finding a way to support the immediate employment needs of our students and community when the time becomes right as Western North Carolina emerges from the challenges of Hurricane Helene. To that end, we will hold not one but two tabling events at which job seekers will find part-time, full-time, seasonal, internship, and temporary opportunities for employment. In addition, we will offer resources including community nonprofits and agencies, support programs, enrollment opportunities, and more. We hope these events offer needed employment and other support while also addressing workforce needs of our partners in the community. Next year, our annual Healthcare Job Fair will be February 13, and our main Spring Job Fair will be February 27.

Hurricane Helene Student Relief Fund (HHSRF)

Hurricane Helene affected everyone in Western North Carolina. Helene left many Southwestern Community College Students and their families in states of emergency and facing unique challenges. In an ongoing effort to address some of these challenges, the SCC Foundation established the Hurricane Helene Student Relief Fund (HHSRF). Any currently enrolled SCC student can fill out and submit this simple HHSRF form to receive up to a $100 gift card to be used at participating businesses. If your immediate needs are greater than $100, larger awards will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Simple supporting documentation in the form of invoices, bills, receipts or photos is required for all applications. HHSRF's application process is simple, expedited and is available to all enrolled SCC students. These funds are limited. The SCC Foundation will award HHSRF funds on a first-come, first-served basis.
