Student of the Week: Amanda Matousek

2018-12-05

Our student of the week is... Amanda Matousek! Amanda is in the Respiratory Therapy program and is set to graduate in the spring of 2020.

"One of my best role models would have to be my son Ky, he is next to me in the picture. He has been such an inspiration to me since the day he was born. I knew everything I accomplished or was going to accomplish was because and for him. The best part of it all was him reminding me every day of how smart he thought I was and how I am the best mommy in the world, in his eyes."

"I believe all the obstacles that I have been faced with is definitely what motivates me, even years later, to finish something that I started. Would life be life without a challenge?  I have been in and out of college since I graduated high school in 2011. I had a child at a young age which put a long halt on school, but in between that came financial difficulties and tough choices to be made. Every day I would remind myself of the light at the end of the tunnel and how all my hard work would pay off."

"My advice to students who face tough challenges is to just keep pushing. Never stop learning and understand that nothing worth working hard for will come easy. More importantly, do not lose yourself in the process, it is so easy to do. Make your best effort to balance your school work, your career, your children, family and loved ones. This will be difficult, but not impossible. Make yourself a bucket list and set one goal at a time then achieve that goal, take care of yourself, and above all, smile and have fun in the process."

Congratulations, Amanda!
