Student of the week: Kara Little

2019-10-07

Our student of the week is Kara Little! She will be graduating in Spring 2020 with an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts.

We asked Kara a few questions about herself and things that inspire her:

Young woman stands outside against a tree.

Who is one of your role models? How has that person helped with your educational journey?
The person I see as my educational role model here at SCC is my culinary instructor, Ceretta Davis. She has taught me so much about the culinary world, and she has always been there whenever I need help or have questions. Because of her guidance, I have become a much better chef.
I appreciate her so much for that.

What motivates you to excel at SCC in spite of difficult circumstances you may face?
When it comes to my education, I am my own motivator. I try my best when it comes to my school work. I'm never late to class, I turn in my assignments on time and I work really hard to make sure I do everything the professional, right way. When it becomes hard, I just tell myself
that I can do anything. Anything is possible if I set my mind to it.

What advice would you give to other students who face tough challenges?
You have to keep going. You have to believe in yourself to know you are going to make it. You WILL get through school and you WILL graduate. Remember to keep up the positive thinking. Reach for for your highest goals because you have what it takes to achieve them.

Congratulations, Kara. We wish you great success at SCC and are proud to have you as a student.
