Each Spring, the Writing Across the Curriculum program hosts, with the aid of the Student Life department, the annual WAC Essay Awards. This contest is open to any current SCC student. Students are asked to submit essays that they have written for any class during that particular academic year (the Spring 2014 contest will be open to any essay written in the Summer of 2013, Fall of 2013 or the Spring of 2014). Essays can be entered into one of two categories: research essays and non-research essays. Each student may enter only one essay. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three essays in each category. Winning essays are also published in a campus-wide publication, Connections, that is distributed to the school library, faculty members and winning students.
