Institutional Advancement

About the Office of Institutional Advancement

The Southwestern Community College Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) is the college's comprehensive resource for campus fundraising. Encompassing the offices of the SCC Foundation and Grants, the OIA supports Southwestern’s Strategic Plan, faculty, staff and students. The OIA helps establish endowments and assists with the development of new scholarships. Also, the OIA is responsible for the funding of existing scholarships, student support and aiding staff and faculty with grant funding needs. We oversee the development of grant or contract projects, the writing of grant proposals and the administration of awards.

You can rely on the Office of Institutional Advancement to provide you with information regarding gifts, bequests and fundraising. In addition, we provide assistance with understanding grant sponsor guidelines, federal and state regulations, reporting requirements and steps involved in the institutional approval process.

Southwestern Community College is incredibly grateful to the many organizations and foundations who support our college with financial gifts and grants. SCC’s prominence as a nationally top-ranked community college is a result of our contributing sponsors. Because of you, we were able to build a state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center with high-tech teaching tools, we continue to hire bright enthusiastic faculty who produce innovative programs, and we even brought NASA to rural Western North Carolina. Your support allows our college to offer more scholarships, enhance our curricula and programs, improve our facilities, and ensure that our students and instructors have the resources they need to excel.

Making a Difference

Your support helps to improve the lives of students within our community. In addition to helping SCC provide a vibrant educational environment, your contributions and scholarships place higher education within reach for many of our deserving students by ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational pursuits. With your help, thousands of SCC’s graduates have reached their goals of becoming our region’s health care professionals, mechanics, accountants, teachers, scientists, first responders, and community leaders.

Our Promise

Southwestern Community College remains dedicated to using your generous contributions to further our mission of providing high-quality, innovative instruction and support for our students. We promise to continue working diligently to ensure that every dollar is used effectively for the benefit of our students.

Thank You

We value our partnership with you. Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today.  Thank you again for your continued support and belief in our mission. Together, we are making a lasting difference in the lives of our students and the future of our community.

With heartfelt appreciation,                                                       Evan Hatch, Executive Director                                                   Office of Institutional Advancement
